"Fast Food" Doesn't Mean "Fatty Food"

Fast food doesn't mean fatty food, right? - ok maybe it does, but it doesn't have to be SO bad, bear with me! The other night my mom and I were exploring dinner options; trying to find something relatively healthy but also something that didn't take too much time because we were starving - we came to the unanimous consensus of ordering takeout. I know what you're thinking - takeout is soooo bad for you right? But it actually doesnt have to be {not so bad anyways}. If you modify your orders to eat them even a little bit better than they would be ordinarily served, you can still work towards your goal of being more health conscious. Lets face it, you're gonna give in to the dire urge to get takeout every once in a while or otherwise find yourself in a situation where you're out to eat with friends and its not like your just gonna not have anything at all,  I mean come on thats just ridiculous. There are, however, a few minor adjustments you can make in your eat out routines to make them not such a major set-back on your health-kick. Treat yourself without defeating yourself. Its like giving yourself permission to have a mini shopping splurge after saving up for so long, but setting a budget. When you eat well most of the time you earn your little guilty pleasures and fast food delicacies - just don't over do it. You can order your hamburger and fries, lets say, without seasoning. I have personally done this before and let me just tell you that burger was every bit just as delicious. Who even has time to think about how strange it is to order food without seasoning while they are stuffing their face in that delectable burger, not you! You can also try getting a salad, salads in restaurants can tend to be calorie, sugar, and fat loaded however they have enough vegetables in them to balance out the not so good parts. Its also great to substitute a side of fries with some seasoned vegetables which seems like the less fun option but if you pick just the right restaurant the veggie options can be surprisingly delicious.

When my mom and I ordered chinese takeout I knew that I wanted to at least try to get something kind of good so I wouldn't feel like I was counteracting all of my hard work and willpower to eat better. So we got an order of chicken and steamed vegetables without sauce and white rice. The steamed chicken and vegetables came exactly as titled - a fresh assortment of vegetables tossed together with cooked chicken, both steamed with absolutely no dressing or seasoning. We mixed it together with the white rice and ever so lightly drizzled low-sodium teriyaki sauce on top and it was savory and more than satisfying. It hit the spot with out going too overboard ~ hunger crisis averted. If you have any other tips or tricks for ordering fast food feel free to share them in a comment below. Stay fab dolls. xoxo
